Field Of Remembrance at St Helier Cenotaph

Following a conversation with the Bailiff of Jersey during a recent trip to Bad Wurzach it was suggested that former internees might like to become involved with the 2012 Field Of Remembrance commemoration services as it was the 70th anniversary of the deportations. Some 618 men, women and children arrived in Bad Wurzach on 31st October 1942.

Twelve did not return, two of whom were little children. Their graves are cared for by the people of Bad Wurzach and each year a group of former internees, together with their families, endeavour to return to pay their respects.

It is those 12 who will be commemorated on Sunday 28th October.Relatives and former internees each laid a named cross.
